Pressure Testing
Underfloor heating systems are designed to have no joins in the pipe below the floor surface to minimise the risk of leakage. Prior to the screed being laid over the pipework it is filled with water and pressure tested to 6 bar. The normal working pressure is 1 bar and Easi-fit Pipe is rated for a bursting pressure of 70 bar at a temperature range of -40 to 90°C. The test continues during screeding to ensure that any leak is immediately obvious. When the screed is dry, the heating can be turned on and the flow temperature slowly elevated to dry the floor over a period of time.

Note: 1MPa = 145psi = 10 bar.
Expansion differences for 50m pipes at 50ºC.
With similar thermal expansion properties to copper, Easi-fit Pipe can be fixed to a wall and carry hot water without sagging between fixings. Clipping distances depends on pipe diameter but is similar to copper pipe
Technical Specifications
Easi-fit Pipe is a Pert-Al-Pert pipe which easily copes with operating pressures of 10 bar at 95°C. See table for physical characteristics.
The oxygen diffusion barrier in Pert-Al-Pert is impervious to oxygen and far exceeds standards of DIN 4726.
The German standard DIN 4726 allows up to 0.1mg / litre / day at 40ºC being considered an acceptable level to prevent corrosion. Easi-fit Pipe exceeds these limits with zero penetration.
