Pressure Testing

Underfloor heating systems are designed to have no joins in the pipe below the floor surface to minimise the risk of leakage. Prior to the screed being laid over the pipework it is filled with water and pressure tested to 6 bar. The normal working pressure is 1 bar and Easi-fit Pipe is rated for a bursting pressure of 70 bar at a temperature range of -40 to 90°C. The test continues during screeding to ensure that any leak is immediately obvious. When the screed is dry, the heating can be turned on and the flow temperature slowly elevated to dry the floor over a period of time.

Note: 1MPa = 145psi = 10 bar.

Expansion differences for 50m pipes at 50ºC.

With similar thermal expansion properties to copper, Easi-fit Pipe can be fixed to a wall and carry hot water without sagging between fixings. Clipping distances depends on pipe diameter but is similar to copper pipe

Technical Specifications

Easi-fit Pipe is a Pert-Al-Pert pipe which easily copes with operating pressures of 10 bar at 95°C. See table for physical characteristics.

The oxygen diffusion barrier in Pert-Al-Pert is impervious to oxygen and far exceeds standards of DIN 4726.

The German standard DIN 4726 allows up to 0.1mg / litre / day at 40ºC being considered an acceptable level to prevent corrosion. Easi-fit Pipe exceeds these limits with zero penetration.

Easi-fit Pipe is easy to work with, it bends
by hand !The aluminium layer gives the
pipe form stability so it retains its shape
 - without springing back!
No welding, soldering, gluing or thread
cutting needed, just a choice of easily
 installed and cost effective fittings.

General Information Easi-fit Pipe.

Corrosion Resistance:

At normal temperature Easi-fit Pipe does not dissolve in any known solutions and is resistant to acid, alkali and various salts.

Burning Resistance:

Easi-fit Pipe’s Pert-Al-Pert composite structure gives it a much better burning resistance than that of polyethylene pipe. Burning resistance is Grade B1 of GB8624 suitable for wire and cable conduit plastic material, according to The National Fire-proof Construction Material Quality Supervisory Test Centre.

Hydraulic Function:

The roughness coefficient of Easi-fit Pipe is 0.007mm. The inside wall is very smooth, scale free and low flow resistant which makes the Easi-fit Pipe ideal for water carrying. Due to its composition of soft plastic and hard metal the lashing pressure is quickly eliminated so no disturbing sounds are generated.

Coefficient of heat expansion:

25 x 10-6 m/m.k, almost the same as that of copper pipe.
