What is Easi-fit Pipe?

Easi-fit Pipe is a multi-layer composite pipe made of cross-linked polyethylene tightly bonded to the longitudinally over-lapped aluminium core of the pipe.

This unique combination of materials produces a pipe with the combined advantages of metal and plastic pipes but without the disadvantages.

The aluminium mid-layer is ultrasonically welded to give the material a 100% oxygen barrier, unlike plastic pipes. The benefit of this is to prevent corrosion to expensive iron and steel components such as the pump, boiler and radiators, therefore extending the life of the heating system.

Another property of the aluminium is to give the pipe form-stability: it is flexible and easily bent without springing back so fewer fittings are required

Used with our compression or press fittings which are corrosion and pressure resistant, Underfloor Direct can provide products for a range of plumbing and heating applications - tested and approved for a minimum of 50 years life expectancy!

Applications.

Easi-fit Pipe can be used for all heating and plumbing applications including hot or cold water supply, radiator central heating and underfloor central heating.

The polyethylene interior of the pipe is hygienic, non-toxic and rust free and its low coefficient of friction means it will remain scale-free. This deters growth of micro-organisms and water contamination making the pipe suitable for hot or cold water systems.

The high thermal stability allows direct connection to boilers so Easi-fit Pipe is suitable for radiator piping, maintaining similar expansion rates to metal pipes.

Properties of Easi-fit Pipe

Form stable: Easi-fit Pipe can be easily bent or shaped by hand and still retains its shape - no spring back. Pipe benders and springs are available for tighter bends. Cross Linked Structure: The sonically welded Aluminium pipe is bonded internally and externally to fully cross-linked PE pipes, giving Easi-fit Pipe added strength compared to plastic pipes. Working Life: When installed according to our manual Easi-fit Pipe has a working life in excess of 50 years. 100% Oxygen Barrier: The welded aluminium layer forms a complete oxygen barrier to protect any ferrous metal in the system e.g. pump, boiler, radiator. Hygiene: The internal polyethylene layer is so smooth that scale or fur does not build up, there is no risk of micro-organism growth so Easi-fit Pipe can be used for drinking water systems.
